Increases offerings to address high-end import market.
Wipro Furniture Business, a part of Wipro Consumer Care and Lighting Group, is increasing its focus to address the high-end imported furniture market in India. This division, a part of the diversified $5 billion IT services exporter Wipro Limited, is lining up a series of initiatives to address this market by launching designer office furniture.
Just after six-months after it launched a furniture range designed by National Institute of Design, Wipro has now launched a signature product designed by London based International Furniture Designer, Tim Wallace. Christened ‘Startline’, this office modular furniture has been launched suited for the Indian market but which has an international appeal.
According to Wipro, Tim Wallace, a Masters in Design from Royal College of Art London, is an internationally acclaimed furniture designer. “Wallace has been associated with international furniture companies over the last two decades and has designed many award winning products for the global market,” Wipro officials noted.
According to Wipro, Wallace did an exhaustive customer research and interacted with architects and designers across various Indian cities before commencing with the design. Wipro has applied for 4 patents under Startline.
“Startline has helped us raise the bar significantly. We have established our credentials as an innovative Design led company with our recent offering I’M and now with Startline, we are giving our customers the choice of an International Styled range” said Vineet Agrawal, President Wipro Consumer Care and Lighting Group. “For this we have invested in a manufacturing facility at Aurangabad and we believe our customers will respond positively to this. We are happy to work with Tim Wallace, an internationally acclaimed designer and together put forward a modern and contemporarily styled range for Indian customers,” added Agrawal. Commenting on the launch, Tim Wallace said “Designing has challenges, but designing for an international market has its own set of unique challenges. Startline meets my personal benchmark of a well designed product which has international styling and will meet the aspiration of the new vibrant India. I am delighted that I got an opportunity to work with Wipro.”
“Wallance has extensively studied the Indian furniture space and worked closely with our team to design this world class product. We have received positive feedback from the Architect and Design community who attended the launch today.” said Parag Kulkarni, vice president C&I and furniture business.
