Wipro to expand workforce in Ireland

Bangalore-based company currently employs over 200 professionals at this center

Amid rising demand from clients, India's second largest information technology (IT) services company, Wipro, today said it plans to expand workforce at its development center at Shannon in Ireland in order to meet the increasing business requirements.

The Bangalore-based company currently employs over 200 professionals at this center, and will increase the headcount by up to 50% over the next 12 months.

"Ireland today offers a great talent pool and excellent infrastructure support. We are seeing a lot of interest from banks in the region for services around business resilience, risk and compliance, simplification, digital, mobility and analytics," said Rajan Kohli, senior vice president and head of banking and financial services at Wipro.

"Our experience in working on similar engagements with various banks in the UK and other countries is helping us offer Irish banks the right strategy and execution capabilities in these areas."

Wipro, provides IT and business process services to marquee retail banking and insurance customers across Ireland and the UK from the Shannon development center. This center, which was inaugurated in 2012, is a regulated entity through the Central Bank of Ireland and complies with the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA ) in the UK.
