WNC selects Sasken's multimedia for its smartphones

Sasken Communication Technologies has announced that Wistron NeWeb Corp (WNC), a Taiwanese original device manufacturer (ODM), has acquired the licence to adopt the company's multimedia subsystem solutions for its next generation dual-mode (GSM+WiFi) phones.

Sasken's multimedia subsystem solution is a pre-integrated solution containing of the codes, engines and applications, such as media player and media capture.

This would "provide WNC with a single source solution for its next generation multimedia rich phones" due for release in early 2007, according to Sasken.

The architecture of the multimedia subsystem solution allows for easy scalability to next generation high-end multimedia applications and enables a rich multimedia experience for the users.

Sasken will also provide integration support to WNC for the subsystem.
