As part of the tie up, Wockhardt Hospital plans to use IOC's cooking gas delivery boys to deliver homes with Prevention of Heart Disease literature and information. |

According to Vishal Bali, vice-president, Wockhardt Hospitals, It is for the first time that the liquid petroleum gas (LPG) company has been partnered for the benefit of the community. "We have initiated 'Mission Heart Life' on a national scale across five cities and hope to reach out to around 10 million people through this programme," he added. |

Such associations play an important role in combating the rampant rise in cases of heart disease and these partnerships provide a perfect platform to take the message of prevention to the society and greatly reduce the risk of heart attack, he further added. |

Beginning from today, the hospital is to distribute printed booklet titled 'Wockhardt Hospital's Guide to Eating your way to a Healthy Heart', through the network of Indian Oil's Indane LP Gas Section. |

"Over 48 per cent of the homes in India use Indian Oil's Indane LP Gas as cooking fuel and through this initiative, we intend to reach out and spread the message of healthy cooking for a healthy heart to each and every one of them," said U V Mannur, chief LPG manager, Indane. |

In Bangalore alone, we have 52 outlets that supply domestic cooking fuel to around 1.5 million consumers. Through our network of 600 delivery boys, we deliver around 18,000 domestic gas cylinders per day, he added. |

According to Dr Vivek Jawali, chief cardiovascular and thoracic surgeon, Wockhardt Hospital and Heart Institute, "Indians have genes that make us predisposed to heart disease and according to the World Health Organisation (WHO), India will have 60 per cent of the world's heart patients by 2010. |
