It added there were some signs of improvement, with the US market reporting a 1.4 per cent increase to 15.2 million. Global PC shipments were 67.85 million in the corresponding period of 2015.
“One of the ongoing problems has been a price hike in selected regions, due to the weakening local currency against the dollar,” said Mikako Kitagawa, principal analyst. The issue has impacted the EMEA (Europe, Middle East, Africa) and Latin America regions for the past year.

However, the fall in sales was rather modest in the June quarter from the previous ones, suggesting a fading currency impact.
Gartner said all regions except North America experienced a decline in shipment.
Lenovo remained first, despite a 2.2 per cent decline in units in the said quarter from the year-ago period. It had a 20.5 per cent share. HP (19.1 per cent), Dell (15.2 per cent), Asus (7.3 per cent), Apple (7.1 per cent) and Acer (6.9 per cent) followed, the report said.
