Addressing a press conference, Denzil de Souza, managing director of the company, said, "We are working on an eco-retreat. We plan to build up a 100-villa model village at Shillim valley in Maharashtra by mid 2007." |

The company, which was set up in 1953 as a relocation service provider, diversified into other sectors like information management, cash management and freight forwarding across the country. It started its Chennai operations in 1986 by setting up a facility at an investment of around Rs 18 crore at Vandalur in the outskirts of Chennai. |

Speaking on the occasion, Prem Lamech, general manager, Chennai division, said that their information management division, set up as part of disaster management and recovery system, is responsible for securing electronic data, images in a DAT (Digital Audio Tape) format in such a way that the information contained therein is retrievable online or physically whenever needed. |

Commenting on the data storage system, he said that the room used for the purpose is completely fire-proof with anti static flooring, besides a control over temperature and humidity to ensure that the magnetic tapes do not get damaged. |

Writer Corporation employs about 2,500 people all over India and operates across 50 cities in seven states. The company also has its international presence in Bahrain and Dubai. Its clientele includes corporates from different fields such as banking, pharmaceuticals, airlines, oil companies and engineering. |

Growing at a rate of 20 per cent, the company intends to register a turnover of Rs 150 crore this fiscal, 50 per cent of which is expected from relocation services, de Souza added. |

The company is also mulling over offering its information management services to some of the cinema and television production houses in the country. |
