Riding on the back of textile and pharma sector in Gujarat which form the bulk of digital printing business, the state is poised to become the largest revenue driver for Xerox India. Expecting a growth rate of over 20 per cent, Xerox India plans to expand its operations in Gujarat.
"We are going to increase our direct presence through more number of distributors and pre-sales analysts. Currently, Gujarat is fourth largest state for us and we intend to make it our third largest state. While around 15 per cent of our total digital printing volume comes from Gujarat, we are aiming at doubling the share," said Vipin Tuteja, executive director - production systems group and head - integrated marketing & SAO, Xerox India Limited, refusing to divulge investment details for the company's expansion activities.
Talking about the Gujarat market, Tuteja said, "Within the state, Ahmedabad and Surat are the most robust markets for Xerox. In terms of sectors, textile followed by the pharma industry are growing rapidly for us. While textile firms are now getting more and more into digital printing for marketing, the packaging firms associated with pharma industry are increasingly going for digital printing, thereby raising the demand for digital printing solutions in Gujarat."
Nationally, in 2006, digital print market was around $ 600 million which is expected to be at around $ 2.3 billion by 2012, growing at a rate of 24.8 per cent, said Tuteja. "Any company spends around 3-4 per cent on documentation. What digital printing solutions do is bring down costs like documentation, power, etc. by 15-20 per cent," he added.
