Xolo, a smart devices brand owned by Lava International, on Wednesday, launched an Android smart phone with its proprietary user interface - HIVE.
Xolo is the first Indian handset maker to come up with its own interface, unlike Micromax and Karbonn who stick to stocking Android like interface on their smart phones with programmes like Android One.
Priced at Rs 13,999 Xolo 8X-1000, which is the first device to have HIVE that will give users a unique interface with features not found on Android. The HIVE launcher separates apps based on time, a bit like the Everything Me launcher. It offers a suite of widgets for the music player, calls and messages. It also has app switcher and one-touch RAM cleaner that kills all background apps while not being accessed with one click.
Its 'connect' platform links developers, tinkerers and users for new feature updates and inclusion, as China's smartphone major Xiaomi does.
Xolo 8X-1000 is powered by the octa-core MediaTek TruOcta processor and has a 5-inch 720p screen reinforced with Asahi DragonTail glass, 2GB RAM, 16GB internal storage and a microSD card for memory expansion and a 8-megapixel Sony Exmor-R sensor with a 2.1-megapixel front facing camera.
