Music instruments maker Yamaha Music India, is targeting sales of close to Rs 120 crore by 2012-13 from India, on the back of more regional institutional supplies as well as a price hike of 10-15 per cent.
Currently Yamaha Music piano costs close to Rs 5 lakh and upwards, while keyboards start from Rs 10,000.
Speaking during the inauguration of its first store in Kolkata, Kozaburo Kume, MD, Yamaha Music India, said, “Due to fluctuating rupee, we are looking at increasing prices of our products by 10-15 per cent. Also we are looking at tie-ups with music studios and individual musicians for sales push.” “We are also investing in research and development at our centre in Japan to come up with more digital music products,” Kume added. The company has close to six exclusive outlets in India right now and is looking at setting up two more soon.
