Tata Steel Managing Director B Muthuraman today advised management schools to induce among their students an attitude to work for the manufacturing sector. |
"If the youth did not develop an attitude to join the manufacturing sector, then the sector would face a crisis of trained manpower in the next 30 years," he said. |
"This is critical because manufacturing has always been the driver of growth in all large economies," he said. |
Speaking at the "Leadership Summit 2005- Change Makers" organised by the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII), the head of the country's largest private steel company highlighted how in today's knowledge-driven society, management schools emphasised aspects such as legal requirements and accounting but tended to ignore factors such as preparing the person to handle disappointment or induce a hunger for achievement. |
"We need to pay attention to management school education to inculcate in students the skills needed to become leaders and develop an attitude among youth to work in the manufacturing sector," said Muthuraman. |
He also advised the management schools to pay attention to the changing times across the globe in order to help the students become future leaders. |
"The power Indian workers is fantastic", he noted. |
