Zapak Digital Entertainment Ltd, a Reliance ADAG venture company, is expecting a turnover of Rs 40 crore for fiscal 2007-08. |
The software gaming entertainment company registered a turnover of Rs 1 crore for fiscal 2006-07 after its launch in November 2006. |
Zapak is expecting a rise in its turnover due to its gaming site Zapak.com and its upcoming Zapak Gaming Zones. |
On the gaming zones, Sudipto Majumdar, chief technology officer, said, "We will be launching around 185 Zapak Gaming Zones by March 2008 that will allow gamers to play the games published by Zapak as well as other hardcore games published by companies like EA Sports. With a capacity of 50 seats each, the pricing would be marginally higher than those of local cybercafes." |
The software gaming entertainment company will also bring two Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Games (MMORPGs) to India by October 2007. |
"MMORPG is a genre of online role-playing video games in which a large number of players interact with one another. This concept is popular in the West and even China and we intend to bring it to India by owning the distribution rights to two such games," said Majumdar, refusing to give out names of the two games. |
Zapak had recently launched Zapak Mail, which the company claims to be the simplest and fastest email service. |
"With unlimited mailbox capacity and with primary features like composing mail only, Zapak Mail is targeted at new Internet users. There are at least 5-10 per cent of such internet users in the country and the number is bound to grow in tier-2 and tier-3 cities," added Majumdar. |
According to Majumdar, there are presently 1.4-1.5 million page views everyday of Zapak.com gaming website. The website hosts over 300 games, apart from mailing services, of which Zuma is the most popular game with 40,000 page views everyday. |
"Zuma itself accounts to 5 per cent of our gaming revenues which is a huge number considering the option of playing over 300 games on the website," added Majumdar. |
