Zee Not To Raise Prices In Cas Regime

The Zee network today announced that the Zee Turner bouquet would be priced at Rs 55 when the conditional access system (CAS) comes into effect.

The broadcaster also announced that the channels would be available on a la carte basis.

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has notified July 14, 2003, as the deadline for implementation of the Conditional Access System (CAS) in the four metro cities of Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata and Chennai.

According to a press release issued by the network, Zee Turner has decided not to increase the price of its bouquet and plans to stick to the same pricing in the CAS environment to facilitate a smooth transition.

Of the total subscription revenue, up to 50 per cent will be shared with the MSOs and cable operators.

Siticable Network, a wholly owned subsidiary of Zee, became the first company to obtain permission from the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting to launch its Digital Headend In The Sky (HITS) for distributing pay TV signals under the CAS environment, the release said.
