The Subhash Chandra promoted Zee Telefilms has reported a 24.36per cent fall in net profit to Rs 104.51 crore for the year ended March 31, 2002, against Rs 138.18 crore for the year ended March 31, 2001. Revenues were marginally up by2.45 per cent to Rs 394.12 crore in 2001-02 as against Rs 384.66 crore in the previous year.
For the fourth quarter ended March 31, 2002 , the company reported a 55.3 per cent decline in net profit to Rs 21.13 crore as compared with Rs 47.29 crore in the corresponding period last year. Net sales fell by about 12 per cent to Rs 105.32 crore in the fourth quarter ended March 31, 2002 against Rs119.81 crore in the corresponding period of the previous year.
The consolidated net profit of the Zee Network for the year ended March 31, 2002 was up by 16 per cent to Rs 201.7 crore against Rs 174.3 crore for the year ended March 31, 2001. Total income rose to Rs 1,140.91 crore from Rs 1,036.02 crore. Expenditure of the consolidated Zee Network increased marginally to Rs 739.21 crore from Rs 726.58 crore. The EBIDTA grew by about 30 per cent to Rs 401.7 crore from Rs 309.4 crore.
Zee has said in a media release that on the advertising revenue front, the momentum does not appear to be picking up and there could be another difficult year ahead.
