A new entrant in India's cluttered mobile market, Zen Mobile, aims to double its marketshare and revenue by the end of this year on the back of new product launches and customer-base expansion, a top company official said.

"We aim to more-than-double our market share and revenue from 3% to 7% and from Rs 45 crore to Rs 100 crore, respectively, by December, 2011," Zen Mobile Managing Director Deepesh Gupta said here.

The Delhi-based firm, a part of the 15-year-old Teleecare Group, has so far sold 4 million handsets and plans to sell another 5 million by March 2012.

"We plan to sell 5 million more handsets by March 2012," he said.

The mobile firm has already launched 18 handsets and more models are on the anvil, he said.

"We will continue to launch at least two new models every month," Gupta said.

The company recently launched its Zen X414 model for Rs 1,799, which it claims has the biggest screen in the country in this price category, at 2.4 inches.

"We have received a good response from customers for our Zen X414 model. This has multimedia features such as an mp3 and mp4 player, FM radio with recording, a powerful torch and a battery back-up of 40 days on stand-by mode," Gupta said.

Present in 80% of the country's markets, the company will have a footprint in all districts of the country in the next three months, Gupta said.

"Zen Mobile's strategy is to always offer superior value to its customers. We have an array of products which cater to various segments and are rich in multimedia applications, music and dual SIM functionality," he said.

Asked about the present competition in the mobile market, Gupta said that an increasing number of customers, especially in smaller cities, were purchasing phones that can use multiple SIMs to benefit from the low-tariff plans of mobile operators.

"With an increase of about 15-16-million mobile connections a month and telecom operators slashing call rates, customers in small cities are going in for multiple SIMs to benefit from these low-tariff plans. This will result in an exponential increase in handset sales," he said.
