Zscaler raises $100 million

Zscaler Inc, a San Jose-based Internet security start-up, has raised $100 million in a new round of financing, led by private investment firm TPG, with participation from existing investors EMC and Lightspeed Ventures. As part of the new investment, Nehal Raj, partner at TPG, will be appointed to the Zscaler board of directors.

Sobarito creates Allstocker

Japanese start-up Sobarito has developed Allstocker, an online marketplace for construction equipment. Since Asia accounts for nearly half the world's construction, selling used equipment made by the likes of Komatsu or Hitachi to companies in other Asian countries have become a billion-dollar industry. Allstocker is currently in its beta run, according to an SDAsia report.

SignEasy to raise $5 million

SignEasy, a San Francisco-based start-up that offers software-as-a-service mobile-first solution to electronically sign and fill documents from smartphones, tablets and web, is planning to raise $3 million to $5 million in a Series-A round of funding. "We are seeing a lot of in-bound interest from venture capitalists. We are hopeful of closing a deal in the next six to nine months. We propose to deploy the funds for strengthening our technology and develop new platforms," founder and chief executive officer Sunil Patro, told Business Standard.

Startup Weekend from Aug 28

Allianz Korea, a subsidiary of the world's largest insurance company, and Yonsei University have teamed up with Philips Korea, IBM Korea, KISA and the ministry of science, ICT and future planning as additional sponsors to host Startup Weekend in Incheon/Seoul.

Capnamic Ventures backs Zeotap

Berlin-based mobile data start-up Zeotap, which allows telecom operators monetise their data, has received $6.4 million in a Series-A round of funding from Capnamic Ventures, Iris Capital, and angel investors. It will use the funding to ramp up its engineering team in Bengaluru and expand aggressively in the mobile-first markets of India and Southeast Asia.
