The district election officer has directed to deduct a day's salary of 116 sector magistrates who were found absent from duty in six assembly constituencies where they were deputed for revision of electoral rolls.
During a surprise check, 116 sector magistrates who were deputed in different assembly constituencies were found absent, said district magistrate Dinesh Kumar Singh.
He said 31 were found absent in Budhana assembly constituency, 23 in Charthawal constituency, 21 in Purkazi, 8 in Muzaffarnagar, 16 in Khatoli and 17 in Miranpur constituency in the district.
These magistrates were deputed in six assembly constituencies for correction related work in voter list as part of a campaign on October 8 and 9, Singh said.
Camps were organised in different polling booths and block level officers were deputed as sector magistrates to attend to voters' querries, he said.
