50 families approach Punjab govt for safe evacuation of their relatives in Iraq

Punjab govt has started 24x7 Punjab Civil Control Room giving details of Indians stranded the Arab country

The state wide campaign launched by the Punjab Government to seek details from the families regarding Punjabis struck in strife torn Iraq, showed a tremendous response with more than 50 families approaching 24x7 Punjab Civil Control Room giving the details of the relatives in Iraq.

According to an official spokesman, up to 3.00 pm more than 50 families had rang up in the control room giving the details about their relatives. He said that the moment control room numbers were flashed on the TV channels, the two telephone lines of the civil control room flooded with calls from anxious relatives.

The spokesman said that meanwhile all Deputy Commissioners, simultaneously being informed about information of Punjabis from their respective district struck in Iraq and Deputy Commissioners, through their officers, are approaching all such families assuring them full support of Punjab Government in this difficult hour.

The Punjab Government is, meanwhile, sharing all details with Government of India and Ministry of External Affairs to ensure the safe evacuation of Punjabis from troubled Iraq. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal and NRI Affairs Minister Jathedar Tota Singh were in constant touch with Ministry of External Affairs for coordinating safe retrieval of Punjabis from Iraq.

Jathedar Tota Singh NRI Affairs Minister Punjab said that Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal is personally camping in Delhi and in constant touch with the Prime Minister Office and External Affairs Minister Mrs. Sushma Swaraj to make arrangements for safe return of Punjabis from Iraq.
