After attacking RBI Governor Raghuram Rajan and CEA Arvind Subramanian, BJP leader Subramanian Swamy, on Thursday, took a veiled dig at the Secretary of Economic Affairs, Shaktikanta Das.

Responding to a tweet which asked for removal of Das on micro-blogging site Twitter, the Rajya Sabha MP claimed that there might be a case pending against Das for allegedly helping P Chidambaram "swallow" real estate in Mahabalipuram.

Swamy had on Wednesday taken on CEA Subramanian for asking Congress to be rigid on GST clauses. He had also said that Subramanian had advised the United States to arm-twist India on IPR-related issues.

The government quickly sprung to the CEA's defense, with FInance Minister Arun Jaitley saying it had "full confidence" in Subramanian. Without naming Swamy, Jaitley cautioned against attacking people ‘whose office and discipline constrain them from responding to baseless charges’.

Before Subramanian, Swamy had launched a scathing attack against RBI Governor Raghuram Rajan for being "not mentally fully Indian". He had lashed out at Rajan for keeping interest rates higher and thereby killing the small and medium-scale industries.

Last week, Rajan unexpectedly announced that he would not serve as the RBI chief after his term comes to an end in September, a move that is widely being perceived as the outcome of Swamy's attacks and the government's silence on the issue.
