Bus driver Narinder Singh was killed outside state roadways workshop

The All India Trade Union strike took an ugly turn today at Ambala in Haryana when a striking union leader Narinder Singh was killed at Haryana Roadways Ambala depot.

Close to 100 trade union leaders were on a dharna on the gate of Ambala bus stand in the morning in order to block the state transport buses to move out of the bus stand.

A fast moving roadways bus tried to make way out of the bus stand and hit the striking union leaders and Narinder Singh was killed.

The protesing crowd got agitated and set on fire the vehicles of Deputy Commissioner of Police, Ambala and SHO of Baldev Nagar Police Station at Ambala City.

The activists are demanding to register a case against the DCP of Ambala and the GM Roadways Ambala.

Heavy Police force is deployed in the town to maintain the law and order.

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister of Haryana B S Hooda told media on the sidelines of a seminar in Chandigarh that law will tale its own course and cannot comment before the enquiry is complete.

The Public sector banks in Punjab and Haryana are closed today to the call of All India Trade Union.

The impact of the strike is visble on public transport as majority of state owned buses plying on inter-state routes in Punjab and Haryana remained off the roads.

According to the Director,Transport, Chandigarh Transport Undertaking T P S Phoolka, the arrival of buses from Punjab and Haryana operating on inter-state routes has been effected.

The official spokersperson at the Post Graduate Institute of Medical, Education and Research (PGIMER) said that a contingency plan had been put in place to prevent any adverse impact of the nationwide strike.

About 2,000 contractual labourers and safai karamcharis of the hospital have threatened to observe strike. PGI authorities informed that they had asked their permanent staff to perform duties of striking workers in order to prevent any disruption in medical services.

The spokersperson added that no work no pay rule shall be implemented to the striking workers.
