The Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF) has submitted the no-confidence resolution passed by majority of its members against incumbent chairman Vipul Chaudhary before the Gujarat High Court, and have sought permission for its implementation.
The documents regarding the no-confidence motion was place before the court as per the directions of the Supreme court last week while hearing the plea of Chaudhary challenging the no-confidence motion. The GCMMF and other members of the federation have also sought that they be allowed to implement the motion as it has stamp of majority of members. The matter is likely to come up for hearing early next week.
As many as 13 out of 16 voting members voted in favour of the no-confidence motion against Chaudhary on December 5 during board meeting of GCMMF. The members have alleged that the no-trust motion was brought because they were suspicious of Chaudhary's functioning and suspected that his way of administration was not in interest of the federation. They further said that motion was need to safeguard the interest of three million milk producers of Gujarat.
The Supreme Court however, refused to interfere with the no-confidence motion passed by the federation members against Chaudhary and disposed of his plea with direction to the member dairy unions to approach the single judge in Gujarat High Court to decide on implementation of the no-resolution motion.
Besides the no-confidence motion from member unions, GCMMF chairman Vipul Chaudhary is also facing charges of corruption from members of the Mehsana District Milk Producers Union Ltd (MDMPUL), which is also headed by him. Gujarat High Court last month directed the state government to inquire the allegation of corruption against Chaudhary and his close aides in Mehsana Union while hearing a public interest litigation (PIL) filed by Baldev Chaudhary and Mangal Patel members of the MDMPUL.
