Apple Inc. on Wednesday will introduce new versions of its flagship smartphone, but it is unlikley that they'll  include the kind of significant new features that Apple consumers are expecting. By far the most controversial feature, however, is the one that will be missing—a 3.5 mm headphone jack.

Here’s all you need to know about iPhone 7 and iPhone 7s ahead of its launch:

No headphone jack: Apple may switch to lightning port for charging, data transfer and audio, forcing users to either use Bluetooth headphones or headphones with Lightning connectors. Apple is not the only one as LeEco and Motorola have ditched the audio port in favour of USB Type-C audio on some of their smartphones.

KGI Securities' Ming-Chi Kuo believes that Apple will announce a pair of high-end "AirPod" earbuds as a premium accessory for iPhone 7 buyers.

Improved water resistance: Matching up to the Apple Watch, the new iPhone might be made suitable for splashes, showering, and even brief dips in water up to one meter deep.

Second camera: Apple is expected to add a second camera onto the back of the iPhone, which it could use to produce higher-quality photos or offer a zoomed-in view, reports Bloomberg. However, this might increase the phones’ costs by about $40.

Both lenses will be 12-megapixel, but one will be a wide-angle camera with 6P lens and optical image stabilization, while the second will be a telephoto lens with 5P lens.

Audio amplifier: Earpiece receiver will become a speaker, but instead of adjusting a second speaker at the bottom in place of the headphone jack, Apple will most likely upgrade the earpiece receiver at the top of the device to become a full speaker. This change will provide enough modification to allow for a stereo sound when placed in landscape orientation.

Click-less home button: The home button that will unlock with the user’s fingerprint just like the iPhone 6 and 6s will now be pressure sensitive to benefit water resistance. It will give a clicking sensation when touched.

Wide colour display: iPhone 7 expected to look much like iPhone 6s but with a cleaner edge. However, the wide colour technology adopted from the 9.7-inch iPad Pro will offer better colour quality, reports Macrumours.

Ming-Chi Kuo, an Apple analyst says the iPhone 7 will come in two new colors—"dark black" and a glossy "piano black."

Goodbye 16 GB: Apple will stop putting 16GB of storage in its entry-level iPhones and instead upgrade them up to 32GB, according to The Wall Street Journal.

Kuo says that storage might double across all of Apple's new addition phones’, meaning it would be offered with 32GB, 128GB, and 256GB of memory.

Price: The first wave of launches in India is expected to be in early Octover, ahead of Diwali. The prices will mostly range from more than Rs 50,000 for the basic 32GB version of iPhone 7 and iPhone 7s.

Overall, analysts say iPhone 7 shipments will round off to 60-65 million through the end of the year, less than that of iPhone which reached 82 million last year.
