It is a ‘Sleep day’ today! Yes, you read it right.

On 17 March every year, people celebrate sleep day across the world. On the occasion of sleep day, a report  by Fitbit – a California based company known for wearable devices –  reveals that Indians are some of the poorest sleepers in the world.

Also, the overall Asian population gets less sleep on average than their American and European counterparts.

A recent study ‘Need for Sleep’ found that teenagers in India who don't sleep enough perform way worse than teenagers who conform to the recommended sleep hours.

Along with diet and exercise, good sleep plays a critical role in health and overall wellbeing, from protecting against cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and obesity, to boosting neurocognitive functions, mental health and longevity, according to the Institute of Medicine, (US) Committee on Sleep Medicine and Research.
