Till just a few days ago, Delhi was choking under a thick blanket of smog, the worst in 17 years. While politicians played the blamegame, children, veterans, and the public in general suffered. As the nation celebrated Children's Day on Monday, it seemed prudent to remind those in power that they need to make a difference and are accountable to citizens.

Our leaders need to put their minds together and see what life they can make for the children. This message was elucidated by some children in Delhi who prompted Chief minister Arvind Kejriwal to take an oath to clean Delhi. It's been 21 months since  Kejriwal  was sworn-in to lead Delhi. This time he  has promised to Clean to by next Children's Day.

Some 16 government and private school children, accompanied by 'MyRightToBreathe' campaigners, met the Chief Minister and Deputy CM Manish Sisodia on Monday.

The kids wrote poems and messages for Kejriwal, pleading him to make Delhi safer and cleaner. According to a report in India Today, Ravina Raj Kohli, who is spearheading MyRightToBreathe campaign along with many others, said, "Through children a strong message of pollution free Delhi is being sent"

While Delhi's air has slightly improved, the overall air quality in Delhi NCR remains a major concern. Risks remain-especially for senior citizens, pregnant women and children.
