Assam to intensify operation to recover missing persons of Bodoland violence

Assam will intensify search operation for recovery of missing persons post Bodoland violence of last week. At least 15 persons went missing after the violence, where armed Bodo-militants stormed into localities inhabited by Bengali-speaking Muslims and killed 33 people in separate incidents.

Yesterday, six bodies were recovered on the banks of river Beki in Lower Assam. Today another body of an infant was recovered. With recoveries of the dead bodies, the death toll has touched 40. The Assam State Disaster Management Authority has been directed to continue search operations in Beki river up to boundaries of Goalpara and Dhubri districts through State Disaster Response Force.

Meanwhile, the situation in the trouble torn districts of Kokrajhar and Baksa continues to be peaceful and incident free. Curfew has been relaxed for 12 hours in Baksa and Kokrajhar districts.
