The United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) representing five workers' and four officers' associations has called for a day-long strike on November 12 demanding revision of wages. The umbrella union has also threatened series of strikes in different zones starting December 2.
UFBU has claimed that wage revision for the bank employees was due from November 1, 2012, after expiry of the previous settlement with the Indian Banks' Association (IBA).
Convener for UFBU, K V Barot said, "We had demanded 23 per cent hike in wages but the IBA has stuck to the figure of 11 per cent which is not acceptable to us. We have asked them (banks) to come to negotiation table to sort out the issue but nothing has been done yet."
Hence, demanding immediate settlement of wage revision for bank employees, the UFBU has decided toone-day pan-India strike on November 12. These will be followed by series of zone-wise strikes staring December 2 to December 5.
