The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has floated a tender inviting bids for the title sponsorship rights for its international and domestic matches during September 2014 and April 2015. The base price for the tender is Rs 2 crore. The sponsorship rights include one international series (India vs West Indies), three Tests, five One-Day Internationals, and one T20 international.
This is, however, subject to any further additions or changes at the BCCI’s discretion. The rights will also extend to domestic series such as the Irani Cup, Ranji Trophy, Duleep Trophy, Vijay Hazare KO, and Prof D B Deodhar Trophy. The deadline for bids is 11 am on August 28.
This time, observers believe Star India will put up a tough fight to retain its hold on the sponsorship rights. Other brands tipped to be in the running are Bharti Airtel and Micromax. Representatives from both the companies refused to comment on the matter.
