Another long weekend starting May 1 to May 4 is almost here and travel enthhusiasts are going to throng to various destinations. According to travel portal Musafir.com, this weekend will see more people from North and East India prefering to holiday at various places in South India, including Bengaluru, Goa and Kochi.
Musafir.com said that from North India, there is about 15 per cent increase in number of people flying towards Goa, while in case of Bengaluru the rise is 10 per cent.
The close proximity of various tourist destinations around Bengaluru, including places like Ooty, Coorg, Mysore, Bandipur and Kabini, coupled with a cooler climate compared to most parts of North India, are cited as the major reasons for the trend.
There will be a 20 per cent increase in travellers to Goa and 15 per cent to Kochi from the western part of the country. Srinagar, with a 10 per cent increase in the number of domestic flight bookings for the weekend, has also proven to be one of the most sought-after destinations for people in Western Indian.
From South India, there is an 18 per cent increase of travelers from South India to Goa and 10 per cent to Delhi.
