The mobile network of state-run telecom firm, BSNL (Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited) completely collapsed today throughout the state due to snags in optical fibre line on National Highway-5 near Cuttack, throwing millions of subscribers of the service provider into a tizzy.
The disruption lasted for more than three hours. Consumers were not able to receive or make calls from 3 pm to 6 pm. Officials said, the services resumed in the evening. It may be noted that BSNL subscribers have been complaining about poor network, weak signals and frequent call droppings at many locations including capital Bhubaneswar for some time.
However, BSNL authorities refused to comment on the cause of these service glitches. BSNL with 3410587 wireless subscribers, as on August, 2014, is the fifth largest mobile service provider in the state.
