The Union Cabinet on Thursday paved the way for signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Hungary to enhance cooperation in tackling water management issues.
The MoU will be signed between the Union Ministry of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation and Hungary's Interior Ministry.
"It will enhance bilateral cooperation in the field of water management, on the basis of equality and mutual benefits. This will encourage development of bilateral relations between public and private organisations concerning water resources in both the countries," an official statement said.
The statement added that both countries will benefit from joint activities and mutual exchange of scientific delegations and experts in the field of water resources development and management.
The cooperation particularly focuses on river basin and integrated water resources management, efficiency in water supply, irrigation technology innovation, and flood and drought management. These will help improve the socio-economic conditions in both countries.
