With Delhi-ites seeing no respite from the ongoing air pollution, the Supreme Court on Monday prohibited the use of 15-year-old petrol and 10-year-old diesel vehicles in the Delhi-NCR region.

Terming the air quality as 'very critical', the Environment Pollution (Prevention and Control) Authority (EPCA) commented that the heavy commercial vehicles contributed immensely to the air pollution, releasing high levels of carbon monoxide and nitrogen oxide.

Business Standard conducted a poll on Tuesday, asking users across Twitter, Facebook and its website if the ban on 15-year-old petrol and 10-year-old diesel vehicles in Delhi-NCR would improve the quality of air in the region.

Here are the results of the 24-hour poll:

The YES club: Of the 1,500-odd votes received across all platforms, 707 respondents, or 41 per cent, are of the view that SC's ban on 15-year-old petrol and 10-year-old diesel vehicles will improve air quality in the Delhi-NCR region.

The NO club: Around 969 respondents, or 55 per cent, are of the view that the new order would bring no change in the air quality

The CAN'T SAY club: Around 4 per cent said that they weren't sure if SC's ban on 15-year-old petrol and 10-year-old diesel vehicles would help improve the air quality.
