CBI will be filing its final reports in five coal scam cases before March 26 and is moving towards wrapping up investigations in rest of the cases related to allocation of coal blocks.
CBI sources said remaining five final reports, which may be charge sheets or closure reports, will be filed before the competent courts before March 26.
The sources refused to reveal the cases or nature of the final report as it is a Supreme Court monitored investigation and revealing such information might be taken adversely by the apex court.
CBI has filed over 16 FIRs which included those against AMR Iron and Steel, JLD Yavatmal Energy, Vini Iron and Steel Udyog, JAS Infrastructure Capital Pvt Ltd, Grace Industries, Jindal Steel and Power, Rathi Steel and Power Ltd, Jharkhand Ispat, Green Infrastructure, Kamal Sponge, Pushp Steel, Hindalco, BLA Industries, Castron Technologies and Castron Mining and Nav Bharat Power Private Limited.
These FIRs were registered after the agency probed three preliminary enquiries related to coal block allocation between 2006 and 2009, 1993 and 2004 and projects given under a government scheme.
Recently, CBI filed its first charge sheet in coal scam against M/s Navabharat Power Pvt Ltd, its two directors -- P Trivikrama Prasad and Y Harish Chandra Prasad -- for commission of offences punishable under IPC Sections for criminal conspiracy and cheating.
CBI has to complete all investigations in the coal scam by April end.
