After nearly a week of standstill, life in Chennai is now back to normal. While schools and colleges have remained shut for nearly 25 days, offices have started working.
Public transportation including airport, buses, trains, autos and others have started functioning. Power has been restored in many parts of the city as rain water drained. Mobile services, ATMs and petrol pumps have started functioning since Sunday.
While offices and factories have opened, attendance especially in IT sector is expected to stay low as many people have left Chennai amid floods and forecast, which said rain would continue.
Many of them were also worried over frequent rumours that lakes were overflowing and floods will return. However officials denied it saying all the lakes and dams are safe. Excess water were let out, but it will not be a concern.
While rain have stopped dark, dark clouds continues to worry people.
Rescue operations have almost come to a stop now with the focus now shifting to cleaning the city. As there are concerns over water-borne diseases, state government and private hospitals, NGOs are running medical camps across the city.
