The Chhattisgarh Cabinet on Tuesday approved of a proposal to enhance the retirement age of state government employees to 62 years.
The Cabinet met on Tuesday afternoon to give its final nod to the proposal that would influence around 300,000 employees—both official and other grades. “All those employees retiring at an age of 60 would now render their services till an age of 62,” a government spokesperson said.
The increase in the retirement age would be applicable to all employees working with state-run boards, corporations, panchayat and civic bodies, the spokesperson added. The chief minister, Raman Singh had earlier made the announcement for increasing the retirement age.
The formation of the new division was necessitated as people from the five districts had to travel to Raipur for the redressal of their complaints.
The new division would come into being from September 15 and would be bifurcated from Raipur. The state government has also started the process of reorganisation of tehsils along with development blocks.
In another important proposal approved by the cabinet, around 550 vacant posts of ayurvedic, unani and homeopathy doctors would be filled directly by the health department instead of going through the recruitment process conducted by the Public Service Commission (PSC).
The spokesperson said this would help meeting the shortage of doctors in the state besides saving time required to conduct the recruitment through the PSC.
