The month-long Budget Session of Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly would start on March 1, while the State Budget for the financial year 2016-17 is likely to be presented on March 9.

The Session would start on Tuesday with Governor’s address.  It would conclude on March 31. During the month long session, the House would have total 19 sittings.

Speaker Gaurishankar Agrawal said the business advisory committee would meet on March 1 to finalise the business. According to the information received to the Assembly Secretariat, the state government would be presenting the state budget 2016-17 on March 9, while discussion on appropriation bill would on March 30.

Agrawal said the State Legislative Assembly would start the practice of paper-less working from the coming Budget Session. “Following some technical constrains, the working cannot be made paper-less but it could be made less paper,” he said, adding that the use of paper would be reduced by 50% from the coming session.

The State Legislative Assembly would launch a portal and all documents related to the business in the House would be uploaded in it. Agrawal said the practice would also enable common man to access the documents. The departments concerned had been asked to send just half of the number of copies it were sending related to budget, speeches, department reports etc.
