The Chhattisgarh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) election had plunged into petty politics propelling the legislator of ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to oppose his party-led government's policy in the larger interest of the traders. Around 11000 traders would elect their new President, General Secretary and Treasurer through polling to be held on Wednesday.

The CCCI is the largest body the traders and hence the election is marred by a flurry of activities in the business community. The contest for chief's post is between Amar Parwani of the Ekta Panel and U N Agrawal of Vikas Panel. The Ekta panel is headed by Srichand Sunderani, a BJP MLA elected from a constituency in Raipur. Sunderani is the incumbent CCCI President and his active participation in the chamber poll has given a new twist to the process.
