The CID today questioned former Housing minister and CPI(M) leader Gautam Deb on alleged financial irregularities in a joint venture between the erstwhile Left Front government and a real estate company. Asked what the CID inquired about, Deb replied "It is not my job to satisfy the CID.
"Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee wanted the CID to keep me at Bhawani Bhawan for two hours. So they kept me for two hours," Deb said after the two-hour questioning at the CID headquarters here.
Meanwhile, the CID officials did not divulge the details of the questioning.
Earlier this year, the state housing department had lodged a complaint at the Taltala police station, alleging that major financial irregularities had been found in transactions by the Bengal Greenfield Housing Development Corporation Limited.
