Commerce students with their sound understanding of macro and micro economic issues can play a key role in the nation's advancement, said experts at the 'Commerce Conclave' organised by the city-based SAI International School and SAI International College in association with Business Standard.
"Commerce students are the driving force responsible for the advancement of a nation because they have a better understanding of the micro and macro-economics of national development," said Bijay Kumar Sahoo, chairman of SAI International School at the conclave on 'Commerce Education- Building Nations and Bridging Gaps'.
He spoke about the origin of the stream of commerce and gave an insight on Kautilya's Arthashastra.
Addressing the students, Prof D V Ramanna of Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar said, "Gaps are there in academic, social and economic world and as budding commerce graduates it is your responsibility to understand these gaps and bridge them. Education is the only way through which these gaps can be bridged."
The conclave was attended by over 500 commerce students in the city. The students presented 13 papers on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, P C Jain, principal of Shri Ram College of Commerce - New Delhi said, "From the economics of the nation to managing a home, every sphere of life requires and is dependent on commerce. Commerce students hold in them the power of adding value to a product/service that eventually paves the way for a better country." He urged the students to make a choice that is reflective of their aptitude and not their mark sheet.
