A criminal complaint was on Friday filed before a city court against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his West Bengal counterpart Mamata Banerjee seeking an FIR against them for their recent protest against demonetisation, claiming it has created law and order problems across the country.
Metropolitan magistrate Harvinder Singh will consider the complaint on December 15. In the complaint, it has been claimed that the duo was facing serious allegations of trying to provoke masses against the demonetisation "by way of protest". It also said that the currency move was "aimed at strengthening India's economy".
The complaint, filed by Hyderabad resident P N Arunkumar, has sought a direction to Delhi police for filing an FIR against both politicians under several sections of Indian Penal Code, including 153 (promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, residence, language etc), 420 (cheating) and 468 (forgery for purpose of cheating).
