Holds consultations on the strategy ahead as BJP steps up demand for Prime Minister's resignation

With BJP demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh over the coal scam, Congress top brass today held consultations on the strategy ahead.

The meeting in which the Prime Minister as also Congress President Sonia Gandhi were present was held shortly after an hour-long adjournment of both Houses of Parliament on the issue.

Keeping up the heat on the government, BJP today demanded resignation of the Prime Minister on the coalgate issue.

In Lok Sabha, soon after Speaker Meira Kumar made a reference to Panchayati Raj Day, opposition members rushed to the Well, raising slogans and waving placards on various issues. BJP members demanded the resignation of the Prime Minister over the issue of coal block allocations.

Shouting slogans, they also demanded dismissal of Law Minister Ashwani Kumar who is alleged to have vetted the CBI report for the Supreme Court on coalgate probe.

In Rajya Sabha, Chairman Hamid Ansari asked members not to display banners and called for the first listed question of the day.     

But slogan-shouting BJP members trooped into the Well forcing Ansari to adjourn the House till noon.
