Contributions to Tamil Nadu relief work touch Rs 112 cr

Contributions to Chief Minister's Relief Fund, as part of help towards those affected by the recent rains in the state, have touched Rs 112 crore.

Today alone Rs 12.31 crore was contributed by various companies and individuals to the fund.

Nissan India contributed Rs 1 crore to the fund. The company's President for India Guillaume Sicard and Renault Nissan Technology & Business Centre India's Head Charles Etienne Verdier, Renault Nissan Automotive India Pvt Ltd's Managing Director Colin MacDonald handed over the cheque to the Chief Minister today at Chennai.

Karur Vysya Bank (KVB's) MD K Venkatraman handed over Rs 3 crore for the fund. This includes bank's contribution of Rs 2 crore and bank employees one day salary of Rs 1 crore.

Chettinad Cements Managing Director M A M R Muthiah handed over Rs 3 crore cheque, while Lakshmi Machine Works contributed Rs 1 crore.

The others include GRT Jewellery Rs 1 crore, Trinity Mirror and Malai Malar, who have contributed Rs 3 lakh each. NAC Jewellery gave away Rs 25 lakh.

Murugappa Group Executive-Chairman A Vellayan earlier handed over Rs 5 crore.
