Coronavirus LIVE: Less than 5,000 new cases in Bengaluru

Bengaluru recorded less than 5,000 new Covid-19 cases on Saturday, as Karnataka reported 20,628 fresh cases and 492 fatalities, taking the total number of infections to 25.67 lakh and toll to 28,298.
 
The day also saw 42,444 discharges, continuing to outnumber the fresh cases.
 
Out of the 20,628 new cases reported on Saturday, 4,889 were from Bengaluru Urban, as the city saw 21,126 discharges and 278 deaths. (PTI)

Continuous decline in cases in UP; daily test positivity rate at 0.8%: State govt

The daily Covid test positivity rate is under one per cent and there has been a continuous decline in fresh cases in Uttar Pradesh, the government said on Saturday, attributing the decreases to aggressive testing, tracing and treatment, and restrictions imposed in the state.
 
Uttar Pradesh recorded 2,287 new cases on Saturday, while it was 2,402 on Friday, 3,278 on Thursday, 3,371 on Wednesday and 3,957 on Tuesday.
 
The recovery rate in the state stands at 96.10 per cent, the Uttar Pradesh government said in a statement. Read here

MP's Covid situation eases, positivity rate dips to 2.1%

The coronavirus positivity rate in Madhya Pradesh was 2.1 per cent as on Saturday and the recovery rate was above 95 per cent, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said.
 
Chouhan, who is scheduled to address crisis management groups working at different levels of the administrative hierarchy later in the evening, said the Covid-19 situation in the state was being "continuously controlled".
 
"From about 76,000 tests, 1,640 persons were found infected, while 4,995 people recovered. While the recovery rate of coronavirus infection rose above 95 per cent, the positivity rate has been reduced to 2.1 per cent," an official release quoted the CM as saying in connection with Covid-19 figures for Saturday. Coronavirus live updates: India recorded 173,790 fresh Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, the lowest daily count in 46 days, as infections continued to decrease in the country. The daily death toll, however, remained over the 3,000-mark, with 3,617 deaths. India's total cases now stand at 27,729,247, while total fatalities are at 322,512, according to MoHFW. Test positivity rate has fallen to 8.35%.

With 31,079 cases reported in the past 24 hours, Tamil Nadu is leading the state list. It is followed by Karnataka with 22,823 new infections. Kerala reported 22,318 cases. Maharashtra 20,740 cases, and Andhra Pradesh 14,429 cases. The case count was 12,193 for West Bengal.

The six most affected states by total cases are Maharashtra (5,692,920), Karnataka (2,546,821), Kerala (2,470,872), Tamil Nadu (2,009,700), Uttar Pradesh (1,686,267), and Andhra Pradesh (1,657,986).

World coronavirus update: Coronavirus cases rise unabated across the globe with 170,113,245 infected by the deadly contagion. While 152,094,863 have recovered, 3,536,896 have died so far. The US remains the worst-hit country with 34,022,118, followed by India, Brazil, France and Turkey. However, in the past seven days, India has added the highest number of fresh cases at 1,517,031, followed by the Brazil (443,604) and Argentina (216,171).
