Assam reported six more COVID-19 deaths pushing the death toll to 5,903 while 300 fresh cases took the tally to 6,03,923 on Wednesday, according to a bulletin of the National Health Mission.
Of the fresh fatalities, one each died in Cachar, Charaideo, Jorhat, Kamrup Metro, Nagaon, and Udalguri districts.
Kamrup Metropolitan district recorded the highest number of new cases at 69, followed by Lakhimpur (26), and 25 each in Golaghat and Jorhat.

The cumulative COVID-19 vaccine doses administered in the country crossed 92.60 crore on Wednesday, the Union Health Ministry said.
More than 40 lakh vaccine doses were administered on Wednesday till 8:30 PM.
The daily vaccination tally is expected to increase with the compilation of the final reports for the day by late night, the ministry said.

West Bengal's COVID-19 toll rose to 18,863 after 15 more people succumbed to the disease on Wednesday, a bulletin released by the state health department said.
Eleven COVID-19 deaths were reported on the previous day.
The tally went up to 15,73,246 with 786 people testing positive in the last 24 hours.

Haryana on Wednesday reported 11 fresh coronavirus cases that pushed its infection tally to 7,70,949, according to a health department bulletin.
The death toll remained unchanged at 9,875, the bulletin said.
Of the fresh cases, four were reported from Gurugram district.

For the first time after July 14, Mumbai on Wednesday logged more than 600 new COVID-19 cases a day ahead of the scheduled reopening of temples and other religious places in Maharashtra on the first day of the Navratri festival.
With 629 new cases and seven fatalities, Mumbai's tally of infections rose to 7,45,792 and the toll to 16,136 on Wednesday, a civic body official said.
This is only the first occasion that Mumbai saw over 600 fresh COVID-19 infections in a single day after July 14 when 635 cases and 10 fatalities were recorded.

Tamil Nadu reported 1,432 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, taking the caseload to 26,72,843 till date, while 25 deaths took the toll to 35,707.
Recoveries eclipsed new cases with 1,519 people getting discharged in the last 24 hours, aggregating to 26,20,499 leaving 16,637 active infections, a health department bulletin said.
Chennai accounted for the most number of infections (176), followed by Coimbatore (149) and Chengalpet (110), while the remaining were scattered across various districts.

Madhya Pradesh on Wednesday recorded 16 coronavirus positive cases which raised the tally of infections to 7,92,596, a state health department official said.
With no COVID-19 fatality reported during the day, the death toll in the central state stood at 10,522, the official said.
As many as 7,81,953 patients have recovered from the viral infection so far, leaving MP with 121 active cases, he said.

Maharashtra on Wednesday reported 2,876 new coronavirus positive cases and 90 fatalities while 2,763 patients recovered, a state health department official said.
Maharashtra witnessed a marginal rise in the number of COVID-19 cases but the fatalities rose sharply compared to Tuesday when the state had logged 2,401 infections and 39 deaths.
With the new additions, the tally of infections in Maharashtra rose to 65,67,791, the death toll to 1,39,362 and the count of recoveries to 63,91,662, leaving the state with 33,181 active cases, the official said.

Emphasising the necessity of wearing face masks to keep the spread of COVID-19 in check, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee Wednesday urged everyone to be careful while pandal hopping as the pandemic is still around.
The chief minister appealed to people while inaugurating two Durga Puja pandals in south Kolkata on Wednesday.
"I request people visiting the pandals during the festival to wear masks even if they are fully vaccinated. Some people are testing positive for COVID-19, even after being administered both doses of the vaccine, she said while inaugurating the Naktala Udayan Sangha puja pandal.

Nashik district in Maharashtra on Wednesday reported 96 fresh COVID-19 cases while 92 patients recovered, health officials said.
The tally of infections in the Nashik district now stands at 4,08,952 while the death toll reached 8,642 with one more patient succumbing to the COVID-19 infection.

Delhi reported 26 fresh COVID-19 cases on Wednesday with a positivity rate of 0.04 per cent, according to the health bulletin issued by the city government.
The national capital recorded no coronavirus-related fatality in the last 24 hours, the bulletin said.
Delhi has recorded only one death due to the infection in October so far. Last month, five people succumbed to the viral disease.

Kerala on Wednesday reported 12,616 fresh COVID-19 cases and 134 deaths, taking the infection caseload to 47,51,434 and fatalities to 25,811.
The number of people who recovered from the infection since Tuesday was 14,516, which brought the total recoveries to 46,02,600 and the active cases to 1,22,407, an official press release said.
As many as 98,782 samples were tested in the last 24 hours, it said.

Russia has confirmed 929 Covid-19-related fatalities over the past 24 hours, the highest daily count in the country, bringing the national death toll to 212,625, the official monitoring and response centre said on Wednesday.
A total of 25,133 new infections were registered, taking the nationwide tally to 7,662,560. The number of recoveries increased by 19,841 to 6,778,900, Xinhua news agency reported.

Only 7 per cent Indian adults are currently hesitant to getting inoculated against COVID-19, the lowest vaccine hesitancy level in the country so far, according to a new survey.
The study conducted by the online community platform LocalCircles received 12,810 responses from citizens -- 67 per cent men and 33 per cent women -- across 301 districts.

Odisha on Wednesday reported 593 new Covid-19 cases, 140 more than the previous day, with the tally rising to 10,29,412, a health department official said.
Four more fatalities raised the coronavirus death toll to 8,227, he said.
The daily positivity rate stood at 0.82 per cent, marginally up from 0.77 per cent on the previous day, as the fresh cases were detected from 71,749 sample tests in the last 24 hours.
