Bihar reports more recoveries than new Covid-19 cases

Single-day recoveries outnumbered new Covid-19 cases in Bihar on Wednesday as 1,724 people were cured of the disease and 1,531 tested positive for the infection, health department bulletin said.
 
The recovery rate in the state has increased to 91.16 per cent on Wednesday which is 13 per cent more than the national average, Information and Public Relations Department Secretary Anupam Kumar said.
 
The number of recoveries has shown a steady increase in the state since August 17, except on September 3 and 4. Out of the total 1,62,631 Covid-19 cases, the number of people who have recovered from the contagion increased to 1,48,257.

Goa records 628 new Covid-19 cases; four more deaths

As many as 628 persons tested positive for coronavirus in Goa on Wednesday, rising the coastal state's caseload to 26,139, an official from the health department said.
 
The number of recoveries in the state rose to 20,445, after 351 more patients were discharged from hospitals, the official said.
 
A total of 2,066 swab samples were tested, of which results of 628 persons came out positive, he said. Apart from this, the death of four Covid-19 patients has taken the toll in the state to 319, the official added.

Ahmedabad adds 165 Covid-19 cases; 244 recover, three die

Ahmedabad district reported 165 new coronavirus positive cases on Wednesday, taking the total count of infections to 34,237, Gujarat health department said. With three more people succumbing to the infection, the toll went up to 1,784, it said.
 
A total of 244 patients were discharged in the day, taking the number of recoveries in the district to 28,365, the department said in its release.
 
While the city reported 210 recoveries against 147 new cases, the rural parts added 34 recoveries against 18 new cases. All three deaths were reported in the city.

Coronavirus India updates: India has crossed the grim 5-million mark by recording 90,123 cases in the last 24 hours. With this, India is rapidly nearing the US tally of 6.7 million. The death toll has risen by 1,283 to 82,091. The government prevented 1.4-2.9 million coronavirus cases and 37,000-78,000 deaths due to the disease by imposing the nationwide lockdown that was announced on March 24, the Lok Sabha was informed on Tuesday.

Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu have reported the highest number of cases. However, infections are rising rapidly in states like Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal. Meanwhile, Delhi recorded 4,263 new corona cases, pushing the tally to 225,000. The worst-hit states are Maharashtra (1,097,856) Andhra Pradesh (583,000), Tamil Nadu (5,14,208), Karnataka (4,75,265), and UP (324,036). Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu has tested positive for the coronavirus. 

Coronavirus vaccine update: ICMR Director General Dr Balram Bhargava today said three vaccines are at the clinical trial stage in India. "Cadila and Bharat Biotech have completed phase-I trials. Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) Dr V G Somani has gave permission to Serum Institute of India to resume clinical trial of the Oxford Covid-19 vaccine candidate.

World coronavirus update: The global tally of coronavirus cases stands at 29,813,004. While 21,615,109 have recovered, 940,794 have died so far. The US, the worst-hit country, 6,791,999 cases. It is followed by India, which has 5,060,818 cases, Brazil (4,384,299) and Russia (1,073,849).
