MP records 337 coronavirus cases, 24 deaths

Madhya Pradesh on Saturday recorded 337 new coronavirus infections which raised its caseload to 7,87,909, while the death toll reached 8,534 with 24 new fatalities, the Health Department said here.
 
A total of 985 patients were discharged from hospitals since Friday evening, taking the count of recoveries to 7,74,600, the department said.
 
With 96 new cases, Indore district's caseload went up to 1,52,437, while that of Bhopal district rose to 1,22,607 with addition of 93 infections. (PTI)

Jammu and Kashmir records 866 fresh Covid cases, 14 more deaths

Jammu and Kashmir recorded 866 fresh cases, taking the infection tally to 3,06,638 on Saturday, while 14 deaths took the toll to 4,174, officials said.
 
Out of the fresh cases, 265 were from the Jammu division and 601 from the Kashmir division of the Union Territory, they said.
 
Srinagar district recorded the highest of 164 cases, followed by 71 each in Budgam and Pulwama districts. (PTI)

Jharkhand reports only 1 fresh coronavirus death, 291 new cases

Jharkhand recorded only one single-day Covid-19 death and 291 fresh cases, a health bulletin said on Saturday.
 
Accordingly, the state's death toll and coronavirus tally rose to 5,082 and 3,43,065, respectively, it said.
 
No fresh deaths were reported in state capital Ranchi and East Singhbhum, districts that had been witnessing a high number of fatalities. Read here

Not enough data to say children will be more affected in third wave: Report

There appears to be no substantial evidence to suggest that children will be more affected or have greater illness severity due to Covid-19 in the anticipated third wave, according to a new report.
 
The Lancet Covid-19 Commission India Task Force prepared the report after convening an experts group comprising leading paediatricians from the country to examine the issue of paediatric Covid-19' in India.

Coronavirus Latest: Moscow orders new restrictions as infections soar

Moscow's mayor on Saturday ordered a week off for some workplaces and imposed restrictions on many businesses to fight coronavirus infections that have more than doubled in the past week.
 
The national coronavirus taskforce reported 6,701 new cases of infection in Moscow, compared with 2,936 on June 6. Nationally, the daily infection tally has spiked by nearly half over the past week, to 13,510.
 
After several weeks of lockdown as the pandemic spread in the spring of 2020, Moscow eased restrictions and did not reimpose any during subsequent case increases. (AP)

Covid positivity rate in Kerala falls, but deaths remain high

For the first time in the last few weeks, the Covid test positivity rate (TPR) in Kerala fell to 12.72 per cent, but the death tally continues to be high, said Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan in a statement on Saturday.
 
Vijayan's statement said that 13,832 people turned Covid positive after 1,08,734 samples was tested in the past 24 hours, while there were 1,29,488 active cases across the state.
 
The TPR last month rose as high as 30 per cent following which Vijayan announced a statewide lockdown, which will be in force till Wednesday. (IANS)

17 deaths, 370 fresh virus cases in Himachal Pradesh

Seventeen more people died from Covid-19 in Himachal Pradesh, taking the death toll to 3,368, while 370 fresh cases pushed the infection count to 1,98,313, an official said on Saturday.
 
According to the Health Department, the state now has 5,402 active cases.
 
The number of recoveries has reached 1,89,522 with 830 patients recuperating from the infection in the past 24 hours, the official said. (PTI)

79 deaths, 524 fresh virus cases in UP

Uttar Pradesh on Saturday reported 79 coronavirus deaths as 524 new cases pushed the state's infection count to 17,02,172, a health bulletin said.
 
So far, the virus has killed 21,735 people in the state.
 
On Saturday, 11 deaths were reported from Kanpur Nagar, nine from Bareilly, eight from Gorakhpur, six from Mathura, five from Jhansi, four from Farrukhabad, three each from Agra, Lakhimpur Kheri, Shahjahanpur, Etawah and Mirzapur. (PTI)

Any ICMR approved Covid-test okay to enter Goa, says District Collector

Travellers arriving in Goa will be permitted to enter the state after showing a Covid- negative certificate of any test authorised by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).
 
According to and order issued by the South Goa District Collector, the Covid negative certificate will mean RT-PCR, True Nat, CBNAAT, Rapid Antigen Test, or any other test as approved by ICMR.
 
"The order is issued as per the direction of the High Court in Public Interest Litigation wherein the state administration will ensure that no person who does not possess a Covid negative certificate based on a test done a maximum of 72 hours before seeking entry into Goa, will be permitted to enter the State," the order stated. Coronavirus LIVE: Kerala sees 13,832 new infections

Coronavirus live updates: India's daily Covid-19 cases remained below the 100,000 for the fourth consecutive day today. However, fatality rate remains a worry. The country reported 84,332 new infections today and 4,000 new deaths, taking the total number of confirmed infections in India to 29,359,155 and deaths to 367,081, according to MoHFW. ICMR will conduct a national sero survey to assess the spread of Covid-19.

The 44th meeting of the GST Council, the second this year in the midst of the second wave of Covid pandemic, began on Saturday morning through video conferencing. The meeting was chaired by finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman and attended by finance ministers of all states and union territories.

World coronavirus update: Covid-19 is continuing to spread around the world, with more than 176 million confirmed cases and 3,800,087 deaths across nearly 200 countries recorded since China reported its first cases to the World Health Organization (WHO) in December 2019. The US remains the worst-hit country with 34,305,280, followed by India, Brazil, France and Turkey.
