Israel reports 3,460 new Covid-19 cases in a day

Israel's Ministry of Health reported 3,460 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, bringing the tally of infections in the country to 882,391. The death toll from the virus in Israel rose by nine to 6,495, while the number of active cases rose to 22,727, the highest since March 17, the ministry said. The number of patients in serious condition rose from 217 to 221, the ministry added.
 
The total recoveries from the virus in Israel climbed to 853,169 after 1,161 newly recovered cases were added.
 
So far, the number of people who have received the first dose of vaccine in Israel has surpassed 5.79 million, or 62.1 per cent of its total population, while over 5.38 million people have been vaccinated with the second dose, and over 142,000 with the third dose. Earlier on Tuesday, the ministry issued a severe travel warning for 18 more countries over their high coronavirus morbidity.

Nagaland reports 68 new COVID-19 cases, 3 more fatalities

Nagaland's COVID-19 tally rose to 28,072 on Tuesday as 68 more people tested positive for the infection, a health bulletin said.
 
Three fresh fatalities from Dimapur, Kohima and Mokokchung were reported during the day, taking the coronavirus death toll in the state to 577. Dimapur recorded the highest number of new cases at 19, followed by Kohima (15) and Mokokchung (14), the bulletin said. Ninety-nine more patients were cured of the disease during the day, taking the total number of recoveries to 25,437.
 
The recovery rate among coronavirus patients in the state has marginally improved to 90.61 per cent from 90.47 per cent on Monday. The state now has 1,261 active cases and 797 COVID-19 patients have migrated to other states, the bulletin said. Nagaland has tested 2.67 lakh samples for the infection, and altogether, 6, 21,800 people have been inoculated till Monday.

Assam reports 1,182 new COVID-19 cases, 13 fresh fatalities

Assam's COVID-19 tally rose to 5,69,439 on Tuesday as 1,182 more people tested positive for the infection, while 13 fresh fatalities pushed the state's coronavirus death toll to 5,037, a health bulletin said.
 
Kamrup Metropolitan district reported the highest number of new cases at 177, followed by Barpeta (75) and Golaghat (74). Golaghat registered the highest number of fresh fatalities at three, followed by two in Kamrup Metro, it said.
 
The state now has 11,093 active cases, while 5,51,692 people have recovered from the disease to date, including 1,158 in the last 24 hours. The recovery rate among the coronavirus patients in the state stands at 96.88 per cent, while the mortality rate stands at 0.93 per cent. A total of 1,347 coronavirus patients have died due to other reasons so far.

Second wave of Covid-19 not yet over as 'R' number high in eight states

The reproduction number of coronavirus has increased beyond one in eight states across the country with the health ministry sounding cautious that the second wave of the epidemic was still raging.
 
The R or the reproduction number indicates the average number of new infections generated by one infected person during the entire infectious period. When this number is more than one, it indicates a spread of infection. India’s R number currently is 1.2, which is the same as the US, Canada, and Australia.
 
“The Covid situation in the country is showing a mixed picture. The high caseload in Kerala is a significant worry. The R number of the country is moving in the wrong direction. It is truly a cause of concern as the second wave is persisting,” said V K Paul, member-health, NITI Aayog and chairman of the National Covid Task Force. READ MORE...

Delhi reports 50 new Covid cases, four deaths

The national capital saw a marginal decline in daily Covid caseload on Tuesday with 50 fresh cases getting reported in the past 24 hours. However, the city reported four more deaths in the same span of time, taking its overall Covid death toll to 25,058, as per the data released by the Health Department of Delhi government.
 
With the 50 new covid Cases, Delhi's infection tally rose to 14,36,451, out of which 14,10,874 have recovered from the disease while 25,058 have succumbed to the virus.
 
The recovery rate continued to remain at 98.21 per cent for the 19th day in Delhi. The active caseload has also registered a substantial decline to 219. Delhi's positivity rate presently stands at 0.08 per cent.

Maharashtra sees 6,005 new cases, 177 deaths in a day

Maharashtra on Tuesday reported 6,005 fresh coronavirus positive cases and 177 fatalities, taking the tally of infections to 63,21,068 and the toll to 1,33,215 while 6,799 patients recovered, the state health department said.
 
With the new additions, the tally of recoveries in Maharashtra now stands at 61,10,124, leaving the state with 74,318 active cases with a recovery rate of 96.66 per cent. The case fatality rate is 2.1 per cent, it said.

Coronavirus live updates: India recorded 30,549 new cases of Covid-19 and 422 deaths from the disease, said the health ministry on Tuesday.

The country has 317,265,07 cases overall and total fatalities stand at 425,195.
