The cumulative Covid-19 vaccine doses administered in the country surpassed the 550 million-mark on Monday, the Union health ministry said.

India took 85 days to touch the figure of 100 million. It then took 45 days to cross the 200 million-mark, 29 days more to reach 300 million. India took 24 days to reach 400 million from 300 and then 20 more days to cross 500 million vaccinations on August 6. It surpassed the 540 million-mark on August 14. The countrywide vaccination drive was rolled out on January 16 with healthcare workers getting inoculated and vaccination of frontline workers starting from February 2.
The next phase of vaccination commenced from March 1 for those over 60 years of age and for people aged 45 and above with specified co-morbid conditions.
In the new phase of the universalisation of the vaccination drive, the Union government will procure and supply 75 per cent of the vaccines being produced by the vaccine manufacturers in the country to the states and UTs.
