The count of recovered coronavirus cases across India now stands at 9,807,569 – or 95.92 per cent of total caseload – with 24,900 new cured cases being reported on Tuesday.
- With a daily increase of 16,432 in total cases, India’s tally of coronavirus cases has risen 10,207,871 on Monday to 10,224,303 – an increase of 0.2%. Death toll has reached 148,153, with 252 fatalities in a day. Now the tenth-most-affected country by active cases, third by fatality, and second by total and recovered cases, India has added 149,187 cases in the past 7 days.
- India now accounts for 1.22% of all active cases globally (one in every 82 active cases), and 8.32% of all deaths (one in every 12 deaths).
- Backwards from here, the last 1 million cases for India have come in 34 days.
- The count of active cases across India has seen a net decline of 8,720, compared with 1,389 on Monday. The only states that have reported a net increase in active cases are Chandigarh (18), and Goa (11).
- With 24,900 new daily recoveries, India’s recovery rate has improved to 95.92%; the fatality rate remains unchanged at 1.45%.
- The Indian states and UTs with the worst case fatality rates at present are Punjab (3.21%), Maharashtra (2.57%), and Gujarat (2.16%). The rate in as many as 13 is higher than the national average.
- India’s new daily closed cases stand at 25,152 — 252 deaths and 24,900 recoveries. The share of deaths in total closed cases stands at 1.00%.
- India’s 5-day moving average of daily rate of addition to total cases stands at 0.2%.
- India’s doubling time for total cases stands at 430.9 days, and for deaths at 407.2 days.
- Overall, five states with the biggest 24-hour jump in total cases are Kerala (3047), Maharashtra (2498), Chhattisgarh (1188), West Bengal (1028), and Tamil Nadu (1005).
- Among states with more than 25,000 cases, the five with worst recovery rates at present are Kerala (90.96%), Himachal Pradesh (91.59%), Uttarakhand (92.21%), Gujarat (94.02%), and Chhattisgarh (94.11%).
- India on Monday conducted 983,695 coronavirus tests, taking the total count of tests conducted so far in the country to 169,801,749. The test positivity rate recorded was 1.7%.
- Five states with the highest test positivity rate (TPR) – percentage of tested people turning out to be positive for Covid-19 infection (by cumulative data for tests and cases) – are Maharashtra (15.32%), Goa (12.9%), Chandigarh (11.02%), Nagaland (9.94%), and Kerala (9.62%).
- Five states with the highest TPR by daily numbers for tests and cases added – are Nagaland (9.66%), Kerala (9.27%), Goa (8.94%), Rajasthan (7.71%), and Maharashtra (6.06%).
- Among states and UTs with more than 10 million population, five that have carried out the highest number of tests (per million population) are Delhi (424372), J&K (283240), Andhra Pradesh (223241), Kerala (220014), and Karnataka (209314).
- The five most affected states by total cases are Maharashtra (1922048), Karnataka (916909), Andhra Pradesh (881273), Tamil Nadu (815175), and Kerala (743563).
- Maharashtra, the most affected state overall, has reported 2,498 new cases to take its tally to 1922048. The state has added 33,281 cases in the past 10 days.
- Karnataka, the second-most-affected state, has reported 653 cases to take its tally to 916909.
- Andhra Pradesh, the third-most-affected state by total cases, added 212 cases to take its tally to 881273.
- Tamil Nadu has seen its tally going up by 1,005 to 815175.
- Kerala has added 3,047 cases to take its tally to 743563.
- Delhi has added 564 cases to take its tally to 623410035.
- Uttar Pradesh has added 940 cases to take its tally to 582920.
