With 1,317,357 more people getting Covid-19 vaccine shots on Wednesday, India’s total count of those inoculated reached 25,685,011. The count of recovered coronavirus cases across India, meanwhile, reached 10,938,146 – or 96.92 per cent of total caseload – with 18,100 new cured cases being reported on Wednesday.
- With a daily increase of 22,854 in total cases, India’s tally of coronavirus cases has risen from 11,262,707 on Wednesday to 11,285,561 – an increase of 0.2%. Death toll has reached 158,189, with 126 fatalities in a day. Now the thirteenth-most-affected country by active cases, fourth by fatality, and second by total and recovered cases, India has added 128,638 cases in the past 7 days.
- India now accounts for 0.87% of all active cases globally (one in every 115 active cases), and 6.01% of all deaths (one in every 17 deaths).
- India has so far vaccinated 25,685,011 people. That is 227.617 per cent of its total caseload, and 1.8487 per cent of its population.
- Backwards from here, the last 1 million cases for India have come in 70 days.
- The count of active cases across India saw a net increase of 4,628 on Thursday, compared to a decline of 2,864 on Wednesday. States that have seen the biggest daily net increase in active cases are Maharashtra (3692), Punjab (880), Karnataka (423), Chhattisgarh (322), and Madhya Pradesh (204).
- With 18,100 new daily recoveries, India’s recovery rate stands at 96.92%, while fatality rate remains unchanged at 1.40%.
- The Indian states and UTs with the worst case fatality rates at present are Punjab (3.11%), Maharashtra (2.34%), and Gujarat (2.19%). The rate in as many as 15 is higher than the national average.
- India’s new daily closed cases stand at 18,226 — 126 deaths and 18,100 recoveries. The share of deaths in total closed cases stands at 0.69%.
- India’s 5-day moving average of daily rate of addition to total cases stands at 0.2%.
- India’s doubling time for total cases stands at 341.9 days, and for deaths at 869.9 days.
- Overall, five states with the biggest 24-hour jump in total cases are Maharashtra (13659), Kerala (2475), Punjab (1393), Karnataka (760), and Gujarat (675).
- Among states with more than 25,000 cases, the five with worst recovery rates at present are Punjab (91.99%), Maharashtra (93.21%), Kerala (96.30%), Madhya Pradesh (97.07%), and Gujarat (97.11%).
- India on Wednesday conducted 778,416 coronavirus tests to take the total count of tests conducted so far in the country to 224,258,293. The test positivity rate recorded was 2.9%.
- Five states with the highest test positivity rate (TPR) – percentage of tested people turning out to be positive for Covid-19 infection (by cumulative data for tests and cases) – are Maharashtra (13.16%), Goa (10.95%), Nagaland (9.2%), Kerala (8.98%), and Ladakh (8.94%).
- Five states with the highest TPR by daily numbers for tests and cases added – are Maharashtra (14.65%), Punjab (5.16%), Chandigarh (5.09%), Goa (4.63%), and Kerala (3.96%).
- Among states and UTs with more than 10 million population, five that have carried out the highest number of tests (per million population) are Delhi (656692), J&K (413712), Kerala (343354), Karnataka (296333), and Andhra Pradesh (274911).
- The five most affected states by total cases are Maharashtra (2252057), Kerala (1083530), Karnataka (956801), Andhra Pradesh (891004), and Tamil Nadu (856917).
- Maharashtra, the most affected state overall, has reported 13,659 new cases to take its tally to 2252057. The state has added 96,987 cases in the past 10 days.
- Kerala, the second-most-affected state by total tally, has added 2475 cases to take its tally to 1083530.
- Karnataka, the third-most-affected state, has reported 760 cases to take its tally to 956801.
- Andhra Pradesh has added 120 cases to take its tally to 891004.
- Tamil Nadu has seen its tally going up by 671 to 856917.
- Delhi has added 370 cases to take its tally to 642030.
- Uttar Pradesh has added 121 cases to take its tally to 604648.
