With 1,359,173 more people getting Covid-19 vaccine shots on Tuesday, India’s total count of those inoculated reached 24,367,906. The count of recovered coronavirus cases across India, meanwhile, reached 10,920,046 – or 96.96 per cent of total caseload – with 20,652 new cured cases being reported on Wednesday.
- With a daily increase of 17,921 in total cases, India’s tally of coronavirus cases has risen from 11,244,786 on Tuesday to 11,262,707 – an increase of 0.2%. Death toll has reached 158,063, with 133 fatalities in a day. Now the thirteenth-most-affected country by active cases, fourth by fatality, and second by total and recovered cases, India has added 123,191 cases in the past 7 days.
- India now accounts for 0.85% of all active cases globally (one in every 118 active cases), and 6.02% of all deaths (one in every 17 deaths).
- India has so far vaccinated 24,367,906 people. That is 216.7072 per cent of its total caseload, and 1.6562 per cent of its population.
- Backwards from here, the last 1 million cases for India have come in 70 days.
- The count of active cases across India saw a net decline of 2,864 on Wednesday, compared with 1,285 on Tuesday. States that have seen the biggest daily net increase in active cases are Punjab (502), Karnataka (218), Haryana (180), Gujarat (126), and Chhattisgarh (104).
- With 20,652 new daily recoveries, India’s recovery rate stands at 96.96%, while fatality rate remains unchanged at 1.40%.
- The Indian states and UTs with the worst case fatality rates at present are Punjab (3.13%), Maharashtra (2.35%), and Gujarat (2.19%). The rate in as many as 15 is higher than the national average.
- India’s new daily closed cases stand at 20,785 — 133 deaths and 20,652 recoveries. The share of deaths in total closed cases stands at 0.64%.
- India’s 5-day moving average of daily rate of addition to total cases stands at 0.2%.
- India’s doubling time for total cases stands at 435.3 days, and for deaths at 823.4 days.
- Overall, five states with the biggest 24-hour jump in total cases are Maharashtra (9927), Kerala (2316), Punjab (1027), Karnataka (590), and Gujarat (581).
- Among states with more than 25,000 cases, the five with worst recovery rates at present are Punjab (92.40%), Maharashtra (93.34%), Kerala (96.14%), Madhya Pradesh (97.14%), and Gujarat (97.17%).
- India on Tuesday conducted 763,081 coronavirus tests to take the total count of tests conducted so far in the country to 223,479,877. The test positivity rate recorded was 2.3%.
- Five states with the highest test positivity rate (TPR) – percentage of tested people turning out to be positive for Covid-19 infection (by cumulative data for tests and cases) – are Maharashtra (13.15%), Goa (10.96%), Nagaland (9.24%), Kerala (9.01%), and Ladakh (8.94%).
- Five states with the highest TPR by daily numbers for tests and cases added – are Maharashtra (11.81%), Chandigarh (5.36%), Goa (4.78%), Kerala (3.51%), and Punjab (3.22%).
- Among states and UTs with more than 10 million population, five that have carried out the highest number of tests (per million population) are Delhi (653101), J&K (411775), Kerala (341575), Karnataka (295267), and Andhra Pradesh (273973).
- The five most affected states by total cases are Maharashtra (2238398), Kerala (1081055), Karnataka (956041), Andhra Pradesh (890884), and Tamil Nadu (856246).
- Maharashtra, the most affected state overall, has reported 9,927 new cases to take its tally to 2238398. The state has added 91,621 cases in the past 10 days.
- Kerala, the second-most-affected state by total tally, has added 2316 cases to take its tally to 1081055.
- Karnataka, the third-most-affected state, has reported 590 cases to take its tally to 956041.
- Andhra Pradesh has added 118 cases to take its tally to 890884.
- Tamil Nadu has seen its tally going up by 569 to 856246.
- Delhi has added 320 cases to take its tally to 641660.
- Uttar Pradesh has added 147 cases to take its tally to 604527.
