India reported an increase of 2,280 in active coronavirus cases to take its count to 96,700. The country is twenty-fourth among the most affected countries globally by active cases. On June 28, it added 11,793 cases to take its total caseload to 43,418,839. And, with 27 new fatalities, its Covid-19 death toll reached 525,047, or 1.21 per cent of total confirmed infections.

With 1,921,811 more Covid-19 vaccine doses being administered on June 27, India’s total count of vaccine shots so far reached 1,973,143,196. The count of recovered coronavirus cases across India, meanwhile, reached 42,797,092 — or 98.57 per cent of the total caseload — with 9,486 new cured cases being reported on June 28.
